Mdou Moctar is a guitarist from Tchin-tabaradene, Niger. "Anar" is an autotuned love ballad, a huge success on cellphones throughout the Sahara. In 2011, Portland band BRAINSTORM recorded a cover of the hit complete with homophone English lyrics.
